Haverhill charity, REACH, teams up with Ipswich Building Society's
executive team on future direction of five year plan for local community

REACH

REACH, a Haverhill charity whose mission is to support local individuals and families suffering from short-term crises and help relieve the effects of poverty in and around the local Haverhill area, has benefitted from an executive volunteering session by Ipswich Building Society.

Senior staff at the Society helped the Haverhill charity to consider its strategy and business plan as part of its executive volunteering scheme which launched in 2014. The session helped the charity to consider its future direction and to bring clarity to goals and priorities.

The volunteering initiative comes as part of Ipswich Building Society's goal to be a leading responsible business. Board members have committed to offering their support to local social enterprises, community interest groups and charities. Executives will share their expertise during high level strategic brainstorming sessions around fundraising, marketing or business strategy, or lend their support to on the ground volunteering.

Henry Wilson, Head of Community Projects at REACH, said: "During the session Ipswich Building Society executives helped the REACH team to consider our five year plan. Coupled with the information and guidance provided by the Ipswich team this will help us to get the most out of our resources and allow us to continue to do all we can to help lift poorer individuals and families in Haverhill out of poverty. It was especially useful to gain insights about housing associations and this will help us to plan expanding our housing services in the future."

Ian Brighton, General Manager of Business Services at Ipswich Building Society, said "REACH do phenomenal work in the Haverhill community through a range of sustainable projects including debt counselling and money management, food provision, furniture and household provision, housing and benefits advice, client aid and advice on affordable housing. It's important to Ipswich Building Society and its members to support REACH and similar local third sector organisations whether this be through sharing our skills and business insights or by on the ground volunteering. For us this is all about doing the right thing as a socially responsible business."
