Mark Sargeantson was appointed to the Board in 1998 and appointed Chairman on 1 December 2006. Mark is a member of the Remuneration Committee and Chairman of the Chairman’s and Nominations Committee. He is a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. Mark is a partner of Fenn Wright, Chartered Surveyors, Property Agents and Consultants and is head of the Commercial Division. He is also a Board Member of the Suffolk Heritage Housing Association.

Derek Bowden was appointed to the Board in 2006. He is Chairman of the Remuneration Committee, a member of the Chairman's and Nominations Committee and a member of the Audit and Compliance Committee. Between 1982 and 2001 Derek held senior posts within Saatchi & Saatchi before taking up the role of Chief Executive of Ipswich Town Football Club.

Jeremy Bristol was appointed to the Board in 1994 and appointed Deputy Chairman on 1 December 2007. He is a Solicitor and a consultant with Birketts Solicitors.

John Edwards was appointed to the Board in 1981. He was Chairman from 1993 to 30 November 2006 and is a member of the Audit and Compliance Committee. John is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, and a former partner of Ensors Chartered Accountants.

Hugh May joined the Society in 1991 as General Manager (Finance), was appointed as Finance Director in November 1998 and Deputy Chief Executive on 1 April 2007. Hugh is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers and also a Director of Suffolk Life Annuities Ltd.

Nigel Smith was appointed to the Board in 2002. He is Chairman of the Audit and Compliance Committee, a member of the Remuneration Committee and a member of the Chairman's and Nominations Committee. Nigel is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and a former partner of KPMG Chartered Accountants.

Michelle Tennens was appointed to the Board in 2006. Michelle is a member of the Remuneration Committee and a member of the Chairman's and Nominations Committee. After a number of years working in commerce in the area of marketing Michelle set up her own business in 2001, redPepper Marketing Ltd. Michelle is a Chartered Marketer.

Paul Winter joined the Society in 1982 and was appointed to the Board in 1990. He was appointed Chief Executive on 1 April 2007 and is a member of the Chairman's and Nominations Committee. Paul is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers.
