Friday 18 August 2017

The 10k and 5k Twilight Road Races will sweep through the streets of Ipswich for the third time this summer.twlight web 2017

While the 5k race is aimed at more elite runners, the 10k is open to everyone, in an effort to get people active in a mass participation race.

The event enjoyed a successful launch in 2015, when almost 1,000 people took to the start line at Suffolk New College. A year later, the second annual races attracted a further 300 participants.

The race is organised by Ipswich JAFFA in association with Ipswich Borough Council, Ipswich Building Society and Suffolk New College. It takes place on a flat, town centre course, with prizes on offer to top finishers in both races. The 5k race is open to men capable of running the distance inside 20 minutes, and women able to finish within 22 minutes.

Ensors returns for the second year as the official t-shirt sponsor of the Ipswich Building Society Twilight Road Races

Ensors, a leading firm of Chartered Accountants & Tax Advisors in East Anglia, has returned for the second year as the official t-shirt sponsor of the Ipswich Building Society Twilight Road Races. The Twilight 10k & 5k Road Races are organised by the Ipswich JAFFA Running Club in association with Ipswich Borough Council and Suffolk New College. This year’s event is in aid of Inspire Suffolk, a locally based organisation which uses education and sport as a way of making a difference to the lives of local people.

Carl, the Twilight Road Races director commented, “We know everyone trains really hard for this race and we want our runners to have a platform to share their journey on. This year, we’re excited to give runners the opportunity to join a fun social media campaign, where they can share training pictures on Twitter with @Ipswich10, using the #RunIpswich hashtag. All entrants who post a picture of their t-shirt will have the chance of winning one of 5 free entries for Twilight 2018.”

Fiona Hotston Moore, partner at Ensors Chartered Accountants, commented: “After the success of last year’s event we were really keen to return as t-shirt sponsors, and were particularly excited about this year’s #RunIpswich campaign. I encourage everyone to sign up early, as only the first 1000 entrants will receive the stunning technical training t-shirt.”

Richard Norrington, CEO of Ipswich Building Society, commented: “We’re delighted that Ensors will be sponsoring the t-shirts for the Twilight Road Races for the second year in a row. The races have become an annual highlight among the Suffolk community and not only does it bring people together, but it’s a great way for people to join in giving back to the local community.”
