Our 169th AGM will be held on Wednesday 27 March 2019

Ipswich Building Society will hold its 169th Annual General Meeting on Wednesday 27 March at Trinity Park, Ipswich. Our Chief Executive Richard Norrington, and Chairman Alan Harris will look back on the highlights of 2018 before handing over to our guest speaker for the evening - broadcaster and writer Tracey MacLeod.

The event, which is part of the Society’s All In membership programme, often attracts a high attendance - indeed, we're delighted to have held the most popular AGM of any building society for the last 2 years running!

Voting packs have been sent out to all eligible voting members.

Notice is hereby given that the One Hundred and Sixty Ninth Annual General Meeting of Ipswich Building Society will be held on Wednesday 27 March 2019 at Trinity Park, Felixstowe Road, Ipswich, IP3 8UH at 6.30pm for the purpose of transacting the following business:

1) To receive the Report of the Directors, Annual Accounts and Auditor's Report

2) To approve the Director's Remuneration Report

3) To re-appoint KPMG LLP as Auditors

4) To elect the Society's Directors: Ian Anthony Brighton, Fiona Winifred Mary Ryder and Trevor Slater

Board members for election


Ian Brighton

Ian Brighton was appointed to the Board on 1 May 2018 as Operations Director. Ian has worked for the Society for over 20 years in various roles. He has extensive knowledge of the mortgage and financial services sector particularly in sales and operations. In a career spanning three decades, 28 years have been spent within the mutual Building Society sector, the first six years of which were spent  with the then Halifax Building Society. Ian joined the Society in 1995 as Branch Manager and became a member of the Executive Team in 2006. Ian holds various mortgage and financial services qualifications including a Diploma in Mortgage Lending and is an alumnus of the Advanced Management Programme at Cranfield School of Management.

Ian is an ardent devotee of mutuality. He leads his staff to deliver top quality, individual service and with his vast knowledge and experience, the Society can prudently lend to mortgage customers some of whom wouldn’t ordinarily meet other providers’ criteria.


Fiona Ryder web

Fiona Ryder joined the Board on 25 October 2018 and is Executive Director of TCD Media and President of the Norfolk Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Fiona was previously Managing Director of Mustard TV, Archant’s local TV broadcast and web channel. Prior to this she was the founding CEO of The Cube Group of Companies, an award-winning instore audio-visual content and systems business. She sold the business to Immedia plc in 2006 and became their Chief Operating Officer. Fiona has over 25 years’ experience in digital media and instore customer marketing. She is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and Honorary Treasurer of Royal Television Society (East).

Fiona’s experience in the retail and digital media industries has taught her the importance of delivering exceptional customer experience. She firmly believes in the importance of a local branch network and the benefits of face-to-face transactions, whilst using technology to improve the efficiency of the Society.


Trevor Slater

Trevor Slater joined the Society in January 2018 as Finance Director and was appointed to the Board on 28 June 2018. He is both a chartered banker and a chartered management accountant and brings with him over 30 years’ experience of working in financial services. Prior to joining the Society, Trevor’s career included a number of senior positions in finance and risk at Yorkshire Bank and Clydesdale Bank. This included the role of Chief Accountant and several director positions in Clydesdale Bank which includedthe principal mortgage subsidiary, the principal service operating company and the defined benefit pension scheme (which included over£4bn of assets under investment).

Trevor is a keen advocate of the mutual sector and has a strong desire to ensure that the Society continues to thrive and that members’ interests are safeguarded at all times. He is an experienced technical accountant who believes in ensuring that compliance with regulation, open communication and prudent management of resources are key areas of focus.
