Ipswich Building Society slips into slippers for Suffolk Age UK

Pyjamas and slippers will be the order of the day when staff at Ipswich Building Society slip into something loose for work this Friday.

They’ll be sporting bedroom attire at the Ipswich Building Society branch in the busy Sailmakers Shopping Centre and it’s all in aid of Age UK Suffolk. Ipswich Building Society is one of many businesses, schools and organisations making Friday a Slip Into Slippers Day and making a donation and at Ipswich Building Society many of the staff are going the whole hog and coming to work in their pyjamas and dressing gowns. Staff at Head Office are also taking part and welcoming a guest from Age UK Suffolk to give a brief talk about what the charity does for older people in the community.

Branch Manager Tom Jell said: “We like to get involved with the community at Ipswich Building Society and help put something back by supporting local charities and good causes.
“We’re looking forward to having some fun, perhaps making our customers smile and raising some money for a very good cause too.”

Suffolk Age UK Fundraiser Jenny Day said: “We have been delighted by the response to our new Slip into Slippers campaign.
“We have around 20 companies and five schools in the county slipping into their cosiest slippers for the charity on Friday and all the money raised will be match-funded by Basepoint, Ipswich and will help support our services for older people, which are a lifeline for many. Our staff at Suffolk Age UK are also joining in – as soon as we offered them to chance to wear their slippers to work they readily agreed and we are looking forward to seeing everyone's photos on social media, especially the fun slippers.”

Mike Sorhaindo, Manager of Sailmakers Shopping Centre, said: “A number of our tenants do their bit by raising money for charity and Ipswich Building Society are always very proactive about putting something back into the local community.
“It does go to show that Sailmakers is at the heart of society here in the town and I’m sure this will bring a bit of fun to the centre on Friday and I’m sure the people of Ipswich will respond generously.”
