Ipswich Building Society strengthens its mortgage team with two new hires

Ipswich Building Society has appointed Jodie Claxton to the position of Mortgage Manager and Matthew Thomas to Underwriting Manager, to strengthen its mortgage team.

Ipswich Building Society recently announced the revamping of its mortgage range and has further extended its support for mortgage misfits with the launch of additional products to support those that are self-employed and contractors.

With a strong background in Quality Assurance and Risk Management, Matthew Thomas who has been appointed Underwriting Manager, has over 28 years’ experience working in the financial services industry and specialises in Operational Credit Management. Prior to joining Ipswich Building Society, Matthew worked at Virgin Money for 14 years in three different roles including Strategic Projects Manager and Chief Operational Underwriter.

Jodie Claxton joins Ipswich Building Society as Mortgage Manager, responsible for post-completion. Jodie joins from Capita Mortgage Services, where she served for two years most recently as Operational Delivery Manager. Her role involved working between the servicing teams, business analysts and developers to oversee User Acceptance Testing, change delivery, process management and training.

Paul Winter, Chief Executive said, “Jodie and Matthew bring a wealth of skills and experience which will enhance our mortgage team and ensure borrowers continue to receive a high standard of service. Too many credit-worthy borrowers with unusual circumstances find themselves overlooked by banks and building societies which conduct machine-only approval processes. However, Ipswich Building Society implements a manual underwriting process to ensure each application is assessed thoroughly and fairly.”
