On a cold, rather wet evening last week an intrepid team from our Branches and Head Office braved the elements (and the elf and safety risks) to spread goodwill and Christmas cheer in the Chantry North area of Ipswich, raising £666.55 for local causes.

This year we have been delighted to once again support the Ipswich Rudolph Run, organised by Ipswich Roundtable. For many in the town, the Rudolph run will be a familiar sight in the run-up to Christmas as the bright and colourful sleigh, fronted by Father Christmas and Rudolph, makes its way around town with an army of helpers (‘snowballs’) in tow, knocking on doors and seeking donations for a good cause. This year, the run was in aid of dementia charities and the Ipswich and Colchester NHS hospital charities.

Ipswich Roundtable are a diverse group of fundraisers and local businessmen from all over Suffolk and surrounding areas, forming part of a worldwide network. Originally formed to serve as a forum to exchange business ideas, the Roundtable have a strong sense of community and raise more than £20,000 per year for local causes through donations and fundraising, through which the Rudolph Run plays an important role in raising awareness in the community at large.

Ian, Emma, Chloe and Clare were representing the Society. Ian, a Business Development Manager in our intermediary team, said: “It was absolutely fantastic to take part with colleagues in the Rudolph Run. People were so generous and welcoming and there was a real sense of community spirit including amongst the ‘snowballs’ and it was great to raise money for such a good cause. Our support was very much appreciated and I am looking forward to helping out next year. Ho ho ho!”
