Upcomming Annual General Meeting, where we will be joined by guest speaker Tracey MacLeod
Posted: 12th Feb 2019

In just six weeks’ time, we’ll once again be gathering for our biggest member event of the year incorporating our Annual General Meeting, where we will be joined by guest speaker Tracey MacLeod.

Our AGM is an opportunity for our members to find out how we’re doing, have their say and ask questions directly to the Board of Directors, as well as being an important legal requirement. In recent years it has become part of our lead member event for the year, often attracting a high attendance. In fact, we're pleased to have hosted the highest-attended AGM in the whole building society sector for the last 2 years running!

Each year we ask eligible members to vote on the resolutions - these include electing or re-electing Directors as well as receiving our Report of the Directors, Annual Accounts and Auditor’s Report. Our Chairman and Chief Executive provide an overview of the previous financial year and look to the year ahead, before handing over to our guest speaker for the informal part of the evening – this year we’re welcoming Ipswich-born broadcaster and writer Tracey MacLeod.

For many years Tracey was the presenter of the BBC’s flagship arts show The Late Show, where she specialised in music subjects, and has also hosted her own shows on radio stations including BBC 6 Music, LBC, GLR and BBC Radio 2. As a restaurant critic for The Independent she has won numerous awards and she is a regular guest judge on the hit BBC series MasterChef.

Tracey will take to the stage to entertain you with her childhood memories of growing up in Ipswich, her continued love of Suffolk as well as her successful career.

Since the introduction of our All In membership proposition in 2014, we have worked hard to encourage more of our members to vote and come to our AGM to learn more about the Society and how we’re looking after your money. It’s all about taking ownership – we don’t want to be seen solely as a place for your savings or just another mortgage provider – we’re part of your community, working widely with charities and businesses across the county to help make Suffolk a better place for everyone.

If you’re a member of the Society, you can register to attend our AGM on Wednesday 27 March – and for this event only, members can register to bring a non-member guest also. (Guest places will be subject to ballot if demand exceeds capacity.)
