Bawdsey Radar Transmitter Block, Bawdsey, Woodbridge IP12 3BA

Discounted to £5 per member

For more information about Bawdsey Radar, please visit their website here.

Arriving at 10.50am for a 11am start, members will be greeted at the transmitter block by the volunteer guides, who will then divide members into smaller groups for the guided tour. You will discover the story of the men and women who were based here and the work they did, in top secret conditions, to develop radar. Operational radar was born here and contributed very significantly to the successful outcome of the Battle of Britain. The tour will finish around 12.30pm.

The Bawdsey Radar exhibition space has been designed to accommodate those who use wheelchairs and people with limited mobility. The entrance ramp is gently sloped with generous corners and the exhibition space itself offers plenty of room for manoeuvre. Please let us know if you use a wheelchair so that we can ensure that support is on site, should you need it.

Location & Parking

From Woodbridge, the transmitter building is located off the B1083, one mile beyond Bawdsey village. From Felixstowe, access is also possible via the foot ferry, including cycles. The transmitter block is approximately one mile from Bawdsey Quay along the B1083, Ferry Road. There is no access to the transmitter block via PGL at Bawdsey Manor. The car park and picnic area is close to the museum. You are welcome to drop off at the museum entrance and then park up in the car park. The museum was built into a hill and therefore the approach is on a slight slope.
