Elmer's Big Parade Suffolk
We are delighted to be supporting the Elmer's Big Parade Suffolk art trail as Community Engagement Partner. The trail officially starts on Saturday 15 June where 55 unique and individual elephants will be unveiled right across Ipswich. At the end of the trail on 7 September, the sculptures will be auctioned off to raise money for the Hospice to support the essential care they provide. We will be selling trail maps in all of our branches for the duration of the trail.
Introducing Earnest Edmund
Our own sculpture, Earnest Edmund, stands pride of place outside our Mutual House branch in the centre of Ipswich. Edmund had the honour of being the first and only full reveal of a sponsor design.
Following suggestions from our members and employees we chose the name Earnest Edmund, paying tribute to both the Society’s mutual status and the patron saint of Suffolk.
Earnest was created and painted by Mik Richardson, the artist behind Pretty Penny, the Society’s previous sculpture for the Pigs Gone Wild trail. It celebrates the Suffolk landscapes and iconic buildings, with each of the Society’s branch towns featuring on the design.
