Pakenham Water Mill

Enjoy a tour of an 18th century watermill which is still today used to ground wholemeal flour from locally grown wheat.

 

WHEN: Friday 26 April, 10am

WHERE: Water Mill Farm, Mill Road, Pakenham, Bury Saint Edmunds IP31 2NB

COST: Discounted to £6.00 per member

 

Members will enjoy a guided tour of the Mill, viewing the water wheel and the Mill pond that supplies the water to operate it. The tour will see the stones that are used to mill the grain including the Tattersall's Midget Roller Mill that has been restored to a working condition before seeing the end product bagged – ground wholemeal flour.

 

The tour will last around 1 hour with refreshments to follow. Members are welcome to explore the grounds and shop afterwards.

 

Accessibility: The tour involves steep staircases, low beams and uneven surfaces and therefore is not suitable for wheelchair users, those with mobility restrictions or difficulty climbing stairs.

Places at this event will be allocated by ballot. Register your interest by clicking below. A ballot will be held following the closing date and members will be contacted to advise whether they have been successful or not in obtaining a place. For joint registrations both members will be allocated places if successful in the ballot.
