New format for the Ipswich Twilight Races as the event enters fourth year
This year the highly popular Ipswich Twilight Road Races embarked on a new format to build on the success of the event and give all abilities the opportunity to participate in the races.
The 5k race was transformed into an afternoon of athletics on Ipswich Waterfront which took place on Saturday 12 May. The 10k race will take place on Friday 3 August, starting and finishing outisde Suffolk New College as with previous years.
The event enjoyed a successful launch in 2015, when almost 1,000 people took to the start line at Suffolk New College. A year later, the second annual races attracted a further 300 participants, while in 2017 more than 1,700 people participated across both races.
This year's 5k event proved to be popular with residents with more than 400 people taking part throughout the day, while the 10k race is now fully booked with 1,800 runners set to hit the streets of Ipswich on Friday 3 August, firmly establishing the Ipswich Twilight races as one of the biggest events in the Suffolk running calendar.
